Skype is a computer program that makes it possible for the user to communicate with others using VOIP also know as Voice Over Internet Protocol a technology used to communicate over the Internet, it is possible to communicate with others through the Skype program through the use of a microphone, Video calls as well as Video/text and only text these functions when done from one computer running Skype to another are free. It is also possible to call to both normal land line and mobile networks but these functions are not free.

Skype is available in many languages such as English, Danish, Czech, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Chinese, Polish and Dutch and the files for these languages make use of the .lang file extension and are known as Skype language files. Skype is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux operating systems.
