Microsoft Works is a Home Office program developed by Microsoft similar to the Microsoft Office Suite in that it contains a word processing program, Spreadsheet program and a database management program.

Both .doc and .xls formats are supported by the program which is able to open both Word and Excel documents. Spread Sheet files or Charts created by Microsoft Works use the file extension .xlr which can also be opened by other programs.
