Digital Rights Management or DRM is the name given to technologies that control the access to a file or that allow a file to run on a hardware device.

Files that use this protection are usually multimedia files which use the extension .dcf

To be able to open the downloaded content the user receives a licence which will then let the playback program run the file.

DCF files can often be found on Mobile Telephones to protect content.
