Sketchup files are created by the program Sketchup which was originally developed by @Last Software which was acquired by Google in 2006.
Sketchup is a 3D Modelling program usually used in 3D Design.
The files that are used by the program to define Structures has the extension .skp and is often used in conjunction with Google Earth.
