The Java Web Application Server that is from Apple inc. is known as WebObjects, as well as being a application server it is also a framework used to make applications. Originally it was developed by NeXT Software until it was merged in to Apple in 1997. Since 2004/5 WebObjects has been a part of the Mac OS X operating system, the last update of WebObjects took place in 2008 and since then it has not been developed further.

API files that have the .api file extension are files that contain metadata about the object that you have developed these files are optional and are found inside the folder where the webobject is found.
