Sketchup is a program developed by Google that can be used to create 3D models, the program is available as both a free version and a paid version and is often used for modelling buildings for Google earth or when designing to show a 3D model of the object.

Sketchup is able to automatically save files in predefined time periods, these files that are a backup of the work in progress use the .skb file extension.
