The Nintendo SNES emulator ZNES is used to play games on a computer using emulation, to do this the contents of the game ROM is read and copied to an image file, if there are changes made to the ROM then they are done through the use of files with the .ips file extension, these files are usually used when translating to other languages but can be used for other things as well.
