HJSplit is a program  that runs on various platforms which is used to split and rejoin files so that they are smaller in size, this is often done if the file is to be transported whether by using Media such a DVD/CD or over the Internet. The program is able to process files of up to 100GB in size supports MD5 checksums, file compare, can be run without installing and is portable.

When a split file has not been given an extension when being rejoined or there is no file extension listed in the header then the program adds the .joined file extension to the file that has been rejoined and processed.
